Things to do
Local trails for walking or riding in Powys include the Glyndwr's Way and the Severn Way. Shropshire trails include circular walks from the Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. The Kerry Ridgeway runs through Shropshire and Powys, while the present border is criss-crossed by Offa's Dyke 1200 years after its construction. There are organized walks in Kerry and Clun.
Dolforwyn Castle near the village of Abermule in Montgomeryshire, and Montgomery Castle in Montgomery are open all year, as is Clun Castle in the village of Clun, Shropshire, site of the annual Clun Green Man Festival.
Powis Castle and garden near Welshpool, has been occupied and extensively renovated during the past 700 years or more, and will be fully open for the season by April 1st.
Stokesay Castle in Craven Arms is a well preserved fortified manor house also opens for the season by April 1st. Nearby Ludlow Castle in the historic town of Ludlow, is privately owned with planned events throughout the year.
